Today is my first day and i have joined business innovation facility. I am working on a business idea since 2002 and have done over $1.0m business.
i have formed a company called Ruralasia Enterprise Services. Rural is focus and Asia is scale. Business motto is SYNERGY BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN BUSINESSES. Thesis of this business is that despite substantial policy good will for rural areas of developing world, growth, particulalry productivity growth is not coming to the rural areas of the world. In societies like Pakistan, this lack of development or economic growith in rural areas is one of the causes of religious extremism.
The question is despite this policy good will why development is not coming or coming frustratingly slow to rural areas of developing world? To me the reason is people( which includes policy makers, business people and academics) do not understand rural businesses and rural economies. So the "best" model they can they can support rural people in their economic endeavours is micro finance.
The truth is rural people in developing world are poor because economies are inefficient due to four fundamental development constraints of 1) finance 2) technology 3) marketing and 4) infrastructure.
At Ruralasia we have converted these constrainsts into oppertunities. So far we have done over a $1.0 million business a pure business through top corporate bodies in Karachi.
