| Our Approach |
| Inclusive business is about finding truly innovative ways to do business. Done well, it promises to deliver commercial returns and new opportunities for the world's poorest. But designing and implementing a business model that will turn a profit and have meaningful development impacts requires real innovation, which can be a challenge for many companies. |

Direct engagement with companies |
| While many donor initiatives invest in improving the business environment, the Business Innovation Facility contracts directly with companies to provide the support they require. This support does not come in the form of finance, as is common amongst donor challenge funds, but rather as technical assistance. We operate through Country Managers in each of our five pilot countries. |

Sharing knowledge about inclusive business |
| We share materials and lessons from our projects on the ground to provide practical knowledge of how to make inclusive business models work. All the resources we produce are grounded in the inclusive business ventures we support. We also signpost to useful resources produced by others in our Resource Library and our monthly Editor's Choice. The Practitioner Hub is a space where practitioners can connect, refelct and find the answers they need. |

Measuring impacts |
We focus on tracking the results of support to inclusive business - results which take time to show and can be hard to identify. We have developed a monitoring framework to help us and the companies we support to track both commercial and social returns, as well as short and long-term change. To learn more about measuring impacts, visit our Inclusive Business Results know-how page, or join the Impacts Network.

Building partnerships |
Good partnerships are at the heart of successful inclusive business models. We help companies identify potential business partnerships, whether with investors, NGOs, or other companies and in some cases we broker mutually beneficial and lasting relationships. As a programme, we collaborate readily, for example in our partnership with Innovations Against Poverty for the joint management of the Practitioner Hub or in a number of co-hosted events with other organisations. To learn more about partnerships in inclusive business, visit our know-how page on Partnerships.
